Animal ManSwamp Thing

Animal Man #12 and Swamp Thing #12

By: Jeff Lemire, Steve Pugh, Scott Snyder, Marco Rudy, and Yanick Paquette

Publisher: DC Comics

Estimated Price: $2.99/each

What’s it about: This is the prelude to Rotworld. After Animal Man shows up at the end of the last Swamp Thing issue, the 2 are going to be teaming up to take the fight to The Rot. Both issues, as usual, come out this week, which to me is pretty awesome.

Earth 2

Earth 2 #4

By: James Robinson, Nicola Scott, and Ivan Reis

Publisher: DC Comics

Estimated Price: $2.99

What’s it about: Earth 2 is probably my most favorite new book coming out of DC. It has a Watchmen-like maturity and it capturing a multi-hero adventure more capably than any of the other DC team books. Atom-Smasher makes his debut while a new enemy makes a play at the new heroes.

Justice League

Justice League International #12

By: Dan Jurgens, Aaron Lopresti, David Finch

Publisher: DC Comics

Estimated Price: $2.99

What’s it about: JLI has beaten JLA in every aspect as far as I am concerned. Unfortunately, this will be its last issue as the team finally grieves Rocket Red. The solicit teases which team members will be resigning and who will be staying, but who cares at this point.

Thief of Thieves

Thief Of Thieves #7

By: Robert Kirkman and Shawn Martinbrough

Publisher: Image

Estimated Price: $2.99

What’s it about: The best new book of the year comes to a climax as the first arc ends. Redmond walked away from the perfect crime, but that would be way too easy and convenient for serial storytelling.

Think Tank

Think Tank #1

By: Matt Hawkins, Rahsan Ekedal, and Brian Reber

Publisher: Image

Estimated Price: $3.99

What’s it about: This story is about Dr. David Loren, who sounds like he is basically Tony Stark: smart ass child prodigy turned genius military industrialist who suddenly wanted to stop making weapons of mass destruction. I’m curious to see what Image’s mature content can do for Tony Stark.

Spider-Man

Avengers vs. X-Men #9 (of 12)

By: Jason Aaron, Adam Kubert, and Jim Cheung

Publisher: Marvel

Estimated Price: $3.99

What’s it about: Its a fun book. I mean, its an event that is piled on top of 100 events that have rocked the Marvel universe, most of which have tried to demonize Marvel characters (characters under hammer influence, gladiator Hulk returning for vengeance, and of course, the Civil War), but its a fun book. Nevertheless, the solicit ends with ” And in the end, it all comes down to Spider-Man!” and I always like it when Spider-Man plays in the deep end of the pool.

Deadpool

Deadpool Kills Marvel Universe #1 (of 4)

By: Cullen Bunn, Dalibor Talajic, and Kaare Andrews

Publisher: Marvel

Estimated Price: $2.99

What’s it about: Read the title, ‘NUFF SAID!

Hawkeye

Hawkeye #1

By: Matt Fraction and David Aja

Publisher: Marvel

Estimated Price: $2.99

What’s it about: After teaming up with Ed Brubaker, for the amazing, awesome Immortal Iron Fist, Fraction and Aja reteam to bring Hawkeye to the mean streets of New York City. Hopefully, it is something Marvel Knights-ish for a character who is usually thrown in with the big guns Avengers.
